About the Doctor
Saritha Chary-Reddy, D.D.S., Ph.D.
Dr. Chary-Reddy began her dental career in Oklahoma City, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree with honors from The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. While pursuing her D.D.S., degree, she volunteered her time with the Good Sheppard mission where she provided dental care for less fortunate families. Prior to pursuing Doctor of Dental Surgery, Dr. Chary-Reddy received a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the field of Genetics. She has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals and received the “Young Scientist award” for her doctoral thesis.
Dr. Chary-Reddy continued her academic pursuit of excellence by specializing in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA). Dr. Chary-Reddy became board certified in the year 2006 and is now a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). While in specialty training, she received “best scientific presentation” award for her research in genetic disorders that related to tooth and facial disorders.
Staying on the leading edge of Orthodontics has always been a high priority for Dr. Chary-Reddy and is evident by her participation in several study clubs, continuing education courses, work-shops, and national meetings. Her active professional memberships include, but not limited to, The American Association of Orthodontists, Southwestern Society of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and the San Antonio District Dental Society. In 2007 & 2010, Dr. Chary-Reddy was cited by the San Antonio Magazine as one of the best Orthodontists in San Antonio.
In addition to her participation in dental organizations, Dr. Chary-Reddy’s dedication to community service encompasses as a “big sister” to the kids who enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas-San Antonio. She has started a charity to provide free Orthodontic treatment to one child per year from this organization (San Antonio Express News). She has organized several dental camps to increase awareness about Orthodontics. Dr. Chary-Reddy is often invited by the elementary, middle and high schools of San Antonio to give presentations on the Career day and Health day to educate the children and promote oral health. Dr. Chary-Reddy lives in San Antonio with her wonderful husband of 17 years, C.S.Reddy, two lovely sons: Vinay and Karthik (where the name VK Orthodontics comes from) and her dog, Jenny. She enjoys tennis, basketball and music in her spare time.
